lyrics

Killing our mortality
Altering our history
Killing our mortality
Shaming our society

Killing our mortality
Changing what it means to “be”
Killing our mortality
Blazing trails of suffering

In a future yet unknown:
Diseases and old age are cured
Population stabilized at 40 million souls

Sanitized and in control
Poverty and wars are gone
Everything appears to be in perfect harmony

But there’s a man with head in hands
Sitting in the lobby chair
Hoping that his triplets can survive in this cruel world

He must find three volunteers
To end their lives by suicide
Giving him a chance to watch his children become men

Killing our mortality
Altering our history
Killing our mortality
Shaming our society

Killing our mortality
Changing what it means to “be”
Killing our mortality
Blazing trails of suffering

There will come a day when false perfection fades
There will come a time to honor human life
Find a way, let the world return to normalcy once more

There’s a mural on the wall,
Painted by a jaded man,
Mocking the perfection claimed in this society

There’s a doctor in the frame,
A zealous man who touts his fame,
And thinks he’s God for helping those who think it’s time to die

Don’t you want to live?
We can make you smile
Don’t you want to live?
It’s the perfect life

Don’t you want to die?
Do it for the youth
Don’t you want to die?
Choose suicide

Killing our mortality
Altering our history
Killing our mortality
Shaming our society

Killing our mortality
Changing what it means to “be”
Killing our mortality
Blazing trails of suffering

There will come a day when false perfection fades
There will come a time to honor human life
Find a way, let the world return to normalcy once more

[The father and the doctor]
Expectant Father: “I want those kids, Dr. Hitz. I want all three of them.”
Dr. Hitz: “Of course you do. That’s only human.”
Expectant Father: “I refuse to watch my children die for the ‘greater good.’”
Dr. Hitz: “But we cannot go back to how things were--you know--”

(3 gunshots ring out - the expectant father kills the doctor, an assistant, then himself)

[The painter and FBT]
Painter: “Three people dead, just like that...This kind of a mess is a hell of a lot more fitting for the world than this damn mural is.”
(A phone dials)
FBT: “Federal Bureau of Termination, how may I help you?”
Painter: “How soon can I get an appointment? Gas me already.”
FBT: “This afternoon, in fact. Sir, on behalf of everyone at the municipal gas chambers, we thank you for volunteering.”
(Hang up)

There will come a day when false perfection fades
There will come a time to honor human life

And help humanity to hold onto our hearts
And save society from selling our own souls

Find a way, let the world return to normalcy once more

This world is bleeding with anger
This world is teeming with danger
This world is crying for laughter
This world is dying for pleasure

What will be, what won’t be?
What will change, what remains?
What will be, what won’t be?
What will change, what remains?
